Originally issued to sailers in the US Navy during Second World War, the deck zip jacket takes its place amongst the militarys Special Winter Clothing collection. Cut from a heavy grosgrain cotton known as Jungle Cloth, this short cut, boxy jacket serves as an effective barrier from the wind and is even water repellent. In order to further protect from the elements, the brand have included a period correct zip plate, which sits behind a mil specs, nickel finished fastener.
A knitted collar, cuffs, and waistband all add to the warmth of this piece, but arctic protection is provided by the Alpaca and wool pole lining. More nuanced details include metallic eyelets in the arm gusset for breathability, an iconic U.S. Navy silver stencil on the back, and period correct d pockets for functionality.
